We could not organize any events due to COVID-19 pandemic this year.
But, we are doing beach clean up since it was the busiest season we have never experienced.
- September 13(Sunday)
- Noon to 4:00PM
- Bottom of Trail 6
It is going to be “Sunday” this year!
We all supply what we need. All we want is your body!
Thank you and see you on the beach!
People are a the bottom of trail 6 and have been waiting for an hour to help clean up the beach but there is no one from the organisation here. No equipment either…
We are sorry about the confusion. Since we had poor weather condition, we had to postpone it to 27th(Sun.).
We posted sign at the top of the trail. Seems like it was hard to see for people.
Again we apologize about confusion and appreciate to all you guy came all the way to the beach!
I join my apologies to those of Hiro’s (our WBPS webmaster). I couldn’t post an advisory to postpone the clean-up until we arrived at the top of Trail 6 to assess the degree of smokiness at the beach. Our Chair and the GVRD Parks staff agreed with the media warnings to not exercise in such a smokey environment so we waited until a little after 12:00, posted a sign in the kiosk at the top of the trail, and then left. In hindsight, I should have stayed for at least another half hour to catch volunteers before
they made it all the way down the trail. We have re-scheduled to Sunday, September 27th which is also World Rivers Day which we will also celebrate with a notebook where people can write out their tributes to either the Fraser River or to another river they care about. This, oddly enough, on the 27th, will be our 27th annual international shoreline clean-up. I am so sorry. Stormin’ Norman may not still be in Vancouver because he was going to grill free veggie burgers if we had gone on with the clean-up.
If he is still in Vancouver, he will fire up his grill for the volunteers. With fervent apologies, Site co-odinator, Judy E. Williams
