Aug.2(Sat.) TOPFREE Protest @ Top of Trail 6

Time:10:00AM – Noon

Any of you folks want to do a short, but peaceful and silent (unless Marilyn and other musicians want to create a special song for us to sing) topfree (legal in BC) protest on Saturday, Aug. 2 along the highway at the top of Trail 6, 10 a.m.-Noon since race organizers  based in Utah… and in collusion with UBC and Highways… refuse to change the course of their  ” Happiest  5 k run on the Planet ” ….

We  will be peacefully protesting the Marine Drive closure  while the idiots from “Color Me Rad”  shoot paint on  runners each km. they walk while they block us from the beach until 4 p.m.!  From there, they are gathering at Thunderbird near the hospice to hear a succession of bands and to be shot with “zillions of colours.” Who knows what beach stream they will dump the suctioned-up paint (cornstarch and food dye) into although they insist they will dispose of it in “an approved way.”

(604-856-9598-H)  or (604-308-6336-C).  It’s bad enough that marathoners and triathaloners block the roads until 11:30 a.m. periodically during the summer, but this is utterly ridiculous since there are no ocean views from the road to the beach from Trail 3 to 16th Avenue!

Our basic message will be:  BLOCK UBC ROADS NOT PUBLIC ACCESS TO WRECK BEACH!
